Surfing is more than just a sport for some people. There are a people who look at surfing as a way of living and as a lifestyle. Costa Rica surf camp instructors even see surfing as a ways for them to make a living and earning money.


There are dozens of different Costa Rica surf camp venues scattered all across the coasts of Costa Rica. Each surf camp comes equipped with their unique spin on tourism and keeping visitors happy and content when they stay in these surfing camps. Traditionally speaking surf camps would look like a simple beach resort only with more surfers and more surfing equipments. There’s really nothing different about a surf camp compared to a conventional beach resort in Costa Rica. Through the years though, surf camp owners have found out that there are a lot of things that can be offered in a Costa Rica surf camp compared to the normal resort. This is where the idea for the modern surf camp came to be.

Beginners however should not expect to hit the water as soon as they have been handed their surfboards. Instructors would rather spend a full day with a new surfer teaching them by the shore or in the sand about the proper balance and posture when in a surfboard. This is because all instructors are tasked with the safety of their students and sending a new student on the water without proper training is like sending an unarmed man into a battle.

One expectation that people should note however is that they will be able to start surfing as soon as they have the basics locked down pretty good. Costa Rica surf camp instructors have stated that after the initial training in the sand, students are then sent to the shallow parts of the water to learn how to paddle on their surfboards.
